Parts of the Oven

An oven is a closed compartment used to heat, bake, or roast food. Identify the temperature dial, door, racks, and heating elements on your oven. Safety Tips

• Always assume the oven is hot. Never open the oven without oven mitts and adult supervision.

• When opening the oven, say “Hot oven opening!” so everyone around you knows to be careful and stand away.

• Stand back and slowly pull the door open. Be cautious of hot air that will quickly escape.

• Practice by taking cold baking sheets out of a cold oven.
